Network replicated: No

Documentation: https://docs.metaplanets.ai/atmosphere/

Modules:

MetaplanetsAtmosphere (C++)
MetaplanetsAtmosphereEditor (C++, editor-only code)

Structure:

Two Unreal modules — a self-contained runtime module (atmosphere component, cloud layer component, cloud preset asset, render pipeline) and a thin editor module. 21 HLSL shader files cover sky compositing, precomputed scattering, cloud ray-march and froxel paths, denoising, cloud shadows, and rain. ~10k lines of C++/HLSL, zero third-party dependencies — UE's own rendering API only. No external assets, plugins, or engine source modifications required; drop into any project as-is.

Performance controls: Per-planet cloud quality mode (crisp ray-march vs. fast froxel), resolution downscaling with temporal reconstruction, and adjustable march budgets — scale from low-end to cinematic on the same scene. Console variables to tune or disable the system at runtime.

Also ships with: aerial perspective debug views, validation docs, and a Blueprint API for runtime atmosphere parameter changes and transmittance queries (e.g. for lighting/VFX code).
